The Hair Tool Studio Rental Policies
We’ve designed our policies to be transparent, fair, and easy to understand—so you can focus on looking your best, wherever you’re headed.
Eligibility & Account Requirements
- You must be 18 years or older to rent.
- Rentals are available within the contiguous United States only.
- We currently do not ship to PO Boxes or hotels.
- An account is required to place an order.
Rental Period & Pricing
- Minimum rental period: 3 days
- Payment is collected in full at checkout
Important:
You are responsible for selecting dates that allow enough time for delivery before your rental begins. For example, if you are leaving your house at 4 am on Saturday, we highly recommend you set the start of your rental period as Friday instead of Saturday.
Shipping to You
- Standard shipping is included in your rental. We ship via UPS.
Address Requirements:
- You must provide a complete and accurate shipping address. Any incorrect information may delay your order. Orders cannot be canceled or refunded due to incorrect address details.
Return Shipping & Late Fees
- Return shipping is included. A prepaid return label is provided.
- After the last day of your rental, you will have 3 days to send back your tool. After that period, a $10/day late fee will apply.
- No cleaning is required before return.
- If a tool is returned in a condition requiring repair due to excessive buildup or misuse, a fee may be applied.
Local Pick-up and Drop-off
We offer local pick-up and drop-off for renters local to the Metro-Detroit area. Pick-up/Drop-off location will be at the Target on Hall Road and Schoenherr located at 13221 Hall Road, Utica, Michigan 48315. After your order is placed, we will reach out to you to coordinate pick-up and drop-off date and time.
Fees & Financial Responsibility
Late Fees

$10 per day after the 3-day grace period
Damage Fees
- Normal wear and tear is accepted at no cost
- Damage beyond normal wear may result in a charge of up to 40% of the tool’s value, depending on severity.
Lost or Unreturned Items
- You are responsible for the full replacement cost if a tool is lost, stolen, not returned, or damage beyond possibility of repair.
Missing Items
- Missing attachments or cases will be charged at replacement cost.
Shipping Issues & Delivery Exceptions
Delayed Shipments
- Please reach out if you have any issues with tracking or communication with the carrier. We will try to assist when possible.
- If your shipment is delayed past the start of your trip, we will issue a full refund.
Delivered but Not Received
- Must be reported within 48 hours of delivery notification.
- If the package shows as delivered but you do not receive it, you must check all delivery locations (mailroom, neighbors, etc.) and contact the carrier.
- If the carrier confirms loss or misdelivery, we will provide a replacement or refund.
- If delivery is confirmed, the renter remains responsible.
Return Shipments Lost in Transit
- Once the package has been scanned by the carrier, you are not responsible for lost transit fees.
- If that package has not been scanned, responsibility remains with the renter.
Cancellations & Refunds
Before Shipment
- Cancellations are allowed up to 7 days before shipment
Refund Structure:
- 1+ week before rental start date: Full refund
- Less than 1 week before rental start date: 50% refund
- Orders cannot be canceled once shipped
Early Returns
- You may return your tool early. No partial refunds will be issued
Use, Safety & Responsibility
By renting, you agree to:
- Use tools safely and as intended
- Follow all safety instructions and manufacturer guidelines
- Use only the correct voltage and plug type
- Keep tools away from water, flammable materials, children, and pets
You are fully responsible for any damage caused by misuse, including:
- Incorrect voltage or adapters
- Unsafe environments
- Improper handling or storage
The Hair Tool Studio is not liable for injuries, damage to property, or misuse-related issues.
International Travel & Voltage
- Tools are designed for 220–240V use
- You may need a plug adapter depending on your destination

Voltage converters should not be used
Damage caused by incorrect voltage or improper use is considered misuse and is the renter’s responsibility.
Cleaning & Quality Assurance
Every tool goes through a professional cleaning process between rentals using the requirements of the official Barbicide Certification.
- Thorough cleaning to remove buildup
- Salon-grade disinfection
- Sanitized storage before shipment
- Tools are inspected and tested before and after each rental
- Customers are not responsible for cleaning prior to return
Customer Support & Disputes

- Support availability: We will respond to all requests for support within 24 business hours.
Disputes
- Must be submitted in writing within 5 business days
- Must include relevant documentation (photos, tracking, etc.)
- We review all disputes based on inspection records, tracking data, and submitted information.
If something goes wrong, we’ll review the situation carefully and work toward a fair resolution.
Extensions
- Rental extensions may be available if inventory allows
- Requests must be made before your rental ends
